The 2022 Emilie Loring Tea was a Fine Success!

Thanks to all who had tea, who read the post throughout the day, and who commented so enthusiastically. Thanks especially to all who shared their teas with us here. In our five years of Emilie Loring Teas, this was, by far, our largest attendance.
I’ll be Practicing My Penmanship
What fun it’s been to see orders come in from across the nation!

Through Thursday, July 21, 2022, you can still reserve autographed copies of Happy Landings: Emilie Loring’s Life, Writing, and Wisdom at the guaranteed price of $35 each (plus tax and shipping). (I hope the eventual cost will be similar, but we won’t know until the book goes to the printer.)
Jordan Marsh Blueberry Muffins

Mary was kind enough to send us the recipe for the Jordan Marsh Department Store’s famous blueberry muffins. Emilie Loring often autographed her books at Jordan Marsh. Would she have taken home some of their blueberry muffins to have with her four o’clock tea?

Cream together: 1/2 cup butter, room temperature 1 cup sugar Add, one at a time: 2 large eggs Separately, mix together: 2 cups unsifted flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt Combine wet and dry ingredients, plus: 1/2 cup milk 1 1/2 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Mash and add 1/2 cup large, fresh blueberries, then stir in 2 cups whole blueberries. Distribute between 12 lined or greased muffin cups. Sprinkle each with a teaspoon of granulated sugar. Bake at 375 degrees, 25-30 minutes. I am definitely going to make these!
Expanding Our Reach

My goal is to get Happy Landings: Emilie Loring’s Life, Writing, and Wisdom into the hands of everyone who would like to read it. Please share this blog/website with your friends and family, and if you use Instagram, follow @pattibender and share to your followers, your local librarian and your favorite bookstore. One by one, we’ll find the Emilie Loring readers who have no idea how many of us there are!
One More Look at our 2022 Emilie Loring Tea
Next year, we will all have our copies of Happy Landings and be ready to plan tours of Emilie Loring’s New England. But let’s linger a little longer with this year’s celebration.

I’ll be back next week with a mystery for us to solve together. Until then, thanks for being such a kind and participatory community.
Happy Landings, everyone!

Hi Patti. I left a comment on your other post announcing the book saying I wanted to pre-order a copy. I don’t see my town on the map. Should I go somewhere else to do this? I definitely want an autographed copy.

Hi Pam, Your order is in, safe and secure. The map is small, so I didn’t try to accurately plot towns, only states. Thanks for your order, and thanks for double-checking.

Remember to check the “Finder” on my website and look under “Recipes.” I have published a handful of them. I need more blueberries, and then I can make these muffins. Yum!

Aloha! Thank you for your kind invitation to Tea. It was fun! I loved seeing everyone’s contribution. I’m looking forward to your continuing stories. I plan on sharing this with our local research librarian. I think he will be surprised at how many people read and enjoy the old books he has ordered for me over the years. Have a lovely week, mahalo and aloha nui. Pam

Your Hawaiian-themed tea was beautiful! Was that your artwork as the background?
I’ll be so curious to hear how your local librarian responds. When I have the book information sheet, I’ll send you a copy to show him. Thank you for this!

I apologize for being a dumbbell. I logged into wordpress. It wants me to create a site or follow sites. I don’t see a step from you to reserve a signed copy. Thanks!

Did you click on the blue button that says “Reserve Your Copies”?

Yes, does that automatically enter me for the reserved copy? I have to apologize, I pressed it more than once because I thought some series of Qs would pop up, ie, address, etc. It just wanted me to log into wordpress. So, you may want to check and delete multiple requests from me–or ignore them!
My apologies for any confusion and extra work I may have caused.

Peggy, there is a form that pops up. Don’t let it be a barrier. You can send me your order via email, contact@pattibender.com , and I’ll enter it into the system for you. I appreciate your order and your longtime support!
Happy Landings!
