Welcome to our 2023 Emilie Loring Tea! If you still have photos to share, send them in, and I’ll add on.
I believe that everyone’s tea photos from Monday are now included (thanks to the Blue Hill Public Library’s working internet!).
Also, as I walked in today:

On to tea!
Solo Tea on Blue Hill Bay

This is an all-Blue-Hill tea on the rocks. Happy Landings, of course, on a cloth by local weaver Jo Hewett and a mug by Lowell Pottery, which is continuing the designs of the old Rowantrees Pottery of Emilie’s day. I found both cloth and mug at a great little shop, “Handworks” in Blue Hill.
Multi-generation Tea

Melody: “Here’s a pic of my tea with my mom, my aunt and my grandmother…we had a lovely tea by the pool with sandwiches, fruit, tea, etc.”
And some beautiful roses, too!
In Honor of Great-Aunt Mil, Who Introduced Her to Emilie Loring

Lori (of the sisters from Minneapolis): “I enjoyed a solo tea on my patio on this beautiful afternoon. I used my Old Country Roses tea pot, cup and accessories from my great aunt, Mil, who introduced my sisters and I to Emilie. She would have been 17 years old when the first book, The Trail of Conflict, was published. We don’t know when she started reading them but we were in Jr High/High School when she told us about her books.
“I chose It’s a Great World to read while enjoying my tea as it’s still one of my favorites.”
West Coast Titus Tea

Emilie’s great-grandson Alex: “I had a small tea after work today right next to our ‘ancestor garden’ where we place pictures of our departed family members. Emilie was in good company this afternoon – having tea in her granddaughter Val Titus’ porcelain tea cup. The tea was a green tea blend I picked up a few years ago from China on a business trip.”
Revisiting Favorites

Elizabeth: “I am solo today as well. I had Coconut Macaron dessert tea in my favorite antique cup, with two of my dark chocolate squares. I went out to my garden to cut some zinnias to put in a vase to enjoy. I have one of my favorite books Forever and A Day to read again.”
Colorado Tea

Move over, Emilie

Molly: “Grandma!”
Granddaughter Molly served pink and white (plastic) cupcakes for her tea. When asked to show her favorite part of Happy Landings, she pointed to my photo on the inside back cover. “Grandma!”
Thanks, Sally and Molly! 🙂
Blue Hill Historical Society
Curator Ann Durgin and I met on the side lawn of the Blue Hill Historical Society. When she told me that she had “footed mugs,” I had no idea they would have shoes, too!

This is such a lovely setting, we agreed that it should become a tradition. Beyond that white fence you see in the background is the Town Wharf. If you get to Blue Hill, be sure to see Emilie’s flapper dress, on display here.
In Her Great-Grandmother’s Tradition

Emilie Loring’s great-granddaughter Sue set this lovely tea in Arizona today. Her mom would be proud. Thanks for sharing, Sue!
Orchids and Roses

Fellow biographer Raqui Ramsey lives in Los Angeles now, but she and her husband, Ed, had good friends in Blue Hill–Tony and Nancy Butler–so she has been here often and has many fond memories of this town where Emilie Loring lived. Now, “I continue to enjoy reading the book sitting in my rocking chair in the afternoon and looking at both my inner and outer garden with all blooming orchids and roses.” We’ll have tea together in 2024 when the film of her current biography, Taking Flight: The Nadine Ramsey Story debuts in Hollywood!
Sister Suffragette

Marlena enjoyed her cinnamon cardamom tea with this wonderful teapot, cup, and saucer. They HAVE to have a story. Tell me more, Marlena, and I’ll add on.
THE Place to Be on Emilie Loring Tea Day!
One of these days, I’m going to find these sisters from Minneapolis and have tea with them. I’ve mentioned their stupendous, dress-up tea in this blog before, but this is the first time we’ve had photos.
They set a lovely table to begin with, complete with fresh roses and floral china. But the fashion paper dolls! What an inspiration! Each guest wore her character’s costume, as you see below. I would love to have been there. Thanks for sharing your photos, Nancy!

Working Girl
We’ve all been there. Peggy in Illinois writes, “I had to be at the office today. I’ll be driving home during your tea time. I had an early afternoon cup at my desk.” Every woman’s survival tools: flexibility and adaptation!

Memory Tea
In Arizona, Cecilia dedicated her tea to loved ones, those living and others who have passed. “I could not get all the friends and family I love on this small tea table, but nevertheless, my love for them is held in mind as I sip tea!”

Mother-Daughter EL Tea
More recently, Nancy (of the costume tea, above) and her daughter, Kari, baked the blueberry muffin recipe I shared in this blog. “We had fun and have been baking those muffins ever since!”

I’ll keep adding to this post as your photos come in. Keep them coming!

It was lovely to see all the beautiful settings of Tea in different parts of the world and how imaginative were their participation. Thanks for posting my photos as I continue to enjoy HAPPY LANDINGS at my home in LA while enjoying my orchids and roses. I look forward to our tea when you visit me in LA after the premiere of “TAKING FLIGHT: THE NADINE RAMSEY STORY.” Love and Congratulations! Raqui

I love the costume party with the character cutouts at place settings. Beautiful pictures at the beach also. Thanks for sharing pictures of the imaginative parties that Emilie fans have planned around the country. [Any outside the US?}
Happy Landings and Happy Emilie Loring Tea Day to every one!
